Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Nissan Rogue- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're gonna take a look at the Swagman Dispatch bike carrier on the back of our 2023 Nissan Rogue. The Dispatch is a frame-mounted bike carrier, meaning that you're gonna have a padded hook across your top tube and two cradle straps to secure your bike to the carrier. If you have a carbon fiber frame, a step-through bike or just a nice paint job where you didn't want any contact, this may not be the best option for you, but if that's not a hurdle, then this'll work out great. On the back of the Rogue, it does not have a tilt feature, but your trade off for not having a tilt is the ability to use it in a flat tow situation or if you also own a RV. So that's kind of a good feature. However, it does limit you from accessing the cargo area if you have the bike on. more

Now the Okanagan is in the three-bike configuration, which is two-bike platform rack, plus the add-on. I like the clearance it gives, we have plenty of space to open up our hatch on our Seltos. The downside is there's gonna be a lot more movement here on this rack. So, if possible, please put your lighter bike on the very end, because that will help reduce that movement up and down. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we're talking about the Swagman Okanagan on our 2024 Mazda CX-90. Now, this can be a great option if you're looking for something that's gonna be a little bit easier to remove your bikes, if you wanna transfer it between maybe a different vehicle that has an inch and a quarter shank, and if you're looking for something that's not gonna cover a lot of the back of the vehicle when it's folded up, but let's check it out. So this is gonna have a weight capacity of 45 pounds per bike, holding up the two bikes, and we won't be able to carry our really heavy E-bikes, but most bikes should fit on here. And that's really gonna also affect our tilt too. So since it does have a lighter tilt, it's not gonna tilt away as far. You have two options. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2024 Mazda CX-90- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we're talking about the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack on the back of our 2024 Mazda CX 90. Now this will be a great premium option for you if you plan on hauling a lot of different types of bikes, so let's check it out. So this is gonna have a weight capacity up to 60 pounds per bike, holding up the two of them, so you'll even be able to accommodate your really heavy e-bikes too, but that's really not gonna affect our tilt too much. As you can see right here, when I tilt it back, most of 'em will be able to go pretty far back. So that's gonna give me the ability to open up my hit, or my hatch once I find that button and a reason why you might want to open up your hatch when you have a bike back here is whether or not you wanna get ready for your ride, grab your gear, or if you're out and about and you need to put your groceries up, or you just simply need a spot to get ready and tie your shoes and when you close this up, I can show you how to put this back into the seated position. It's pretty straightforward. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima StageTwo bike carrier on our 2021 Nissan Murano. The StageTwo is a wheel mounted bike carrier, meaning that it's going to secure your bike to the carrier using a front hook and a rear cradle strap to lock it down, so you're not making any contact to your cross tube at the top. And so if you have a carbon fiber bike like this one or a unconventional frame bike, it's gonna be able to be flexible to work with both. Another thing to take notice of is the fact that the StageTwo does have a tilt feature. It's gonna allow you to pull your lever and access your cargo area. The tilt on here gives you plenty of space to open your rear hatch and actually use your space to change your shoes or get it ready for your ride. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Jeep Gladiator- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 on the back of our 2023 Jeep Gladiator. The Sherpa 2.0 is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, and what that means for you it allows you to transfer your bike securely without making any contact to the frame of your bike at all. So if you have a carbon fiber bike or if you have an unconventional bike, like a step-through, this is gonna be a great way to secure it without making any contact to the frame. You're gonna have a large hook on your front wheel, and with the Sherpa you want it as close to the forks as possible, and you have a single strap on your rear wheel, and that's gonna hold your bike in place as you go down the road. A cool feature of the Sherpa 2.0 is the fact that you can pull this lever and actually tilt your bike carrier while it's loaded with bikes. You can see right here that you have full clearance to open up your tailgate without having to remove the bike from here and having any interference. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at how the Saris MHS Bike and Cargo Kit fits on a 2023 Kia Seltos. We are focusing on how this specific kit and system works with this specific car. If you're curious though, about the whole kit or its components, you can check out our full length review videos here at etrailer.com. Now, the main thing though with a Seltos is I really like this combination just because it expands my cargo space and allows me to carry around the bike. But it's important that you have a two inch hitch receiver and that you're very conscious of the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle, because while this whole system has a total weight capacity of up to 195 pounds, your hitch weight capacity may be less, so just double check that (engine revving) before you load your cargo up. Technically, the basket has 160 pound weight capacity and the bike rack has a 35 pound weight capacity. more

So when you take a look at the NV 2.0, you notice that it secures your bike by the wheels 'cause it is a wheel-mounted carrier, and that's gonna work for the person that's looking for a bike carrier that's not gonna make contact with their frame. So if you have a carbon fiber frame or a bike with a special paint job, step through unconventional frame, any one of those things, this is gonna be what you want to go for for the best, secure fit. And then on the rear, you're gonna have a single strap that goes between your spokes and keeps everything stable and connected on the very rear. At the end of our cradle here, you also have your included cable lock to secure your bike to the carrier itself. Overall with Kuat, as far as where they land with quality, I would say that they're on the higher, better, more refined, more premium end. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Hyundai Tucson- Video

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're gonna take a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE on the back of a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. So the Sport Rider is a frame-mounted bike carrier, so that means you're gonna have contact with the upper frame and it's also gonna secure your bike using straps with the loops on the front and rear wheel. Essentially what that's gonna do for you is, it's gonna stabilize your bike, but it does make contact with the frame. So if you have a bike that's a carbon fiber frame or something with a nice paint job or maybe even an unconventional frame bike, this may not be the best option. You might wanna look towards a wheel mount. However, on the back of our Tucson, this is gonna work pretty well, and we're gonna take a little bit closer look at some of the features by removing the bike from the carrier. more

The tire hold HD is a heavy duty bike carrier that's gonna work for your heavier e-bikes up to 80 pounds each, and for any of your specialty bikes like carbon fiber frames, unconventional step-through bikes, or something that has a fancy paint job where you wanna have no contact to the frame. Let's take a look at the tilt feature that's included on our bike carrier, and see what type of access it allows us to our hatch area. And I'm just gonna, yeah, so I'd just give it a little bit 'cause we come kind of close with our handlebars, but overall it would, you still have really great access to the back of your vehicle, so that is something to consider as well. The Tire Hold HD is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, and that's gonna allow you to secure your bike to the carrier without making any contact to the frame. That's gonna work mostly for your bikes to have unconventional frames, carbon fiber bikes, or bikes to have a nice paint job to it where you just want no contact to the frame at all. So let's take a look at some of the features as far as having your bike installed on your carrier. Your carrier does have a tilt that's gonna allow you to lower your carrier. In this case with the Sorento, you're not gonna quite make clearance without making contact with our handlebars, so that's something to consider that you may not have access to the back of your vehicle when you have the Tire Hold HD. more

The Kuat Transfer is gonna be the entry-level rack in the Kuat line where you don't pay as much as you would for a Sherpa or an NV, but you still get these solid Kuat features. One of those features is tilting away. So if you want something that makes it slightly a bit easier to tilt away, then if you have just one bike loaded, like what we have here, you can actually step into the rack, step on this lever, and then drop your bike rack down to a tilt. more

Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Kia Sorento- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the SuperClamp EX from Saris on our 2022 Kia Sorento. The SuperClamp EX is a cradle-style bike carrier that has a wheel mount securing system. So essentially, you're gonna have hooks on your wheels in addition to the cradle straps to hold your bike on the carrier. What's unique about the SuperClamp is you have a front and rear hook. A lot of times when you have a wheel-mounted system, it's just a single hook and one single cradle. A wheel-mounted bike carrier is gonna work well for a person that has either a carbon fiber frame that you really don't want contact to, or if you have a nice paint job or an unconventional frame, it makes it a lot easier for those types of bikes. more

The Piston Pro X is a wheel-mount platform-style bike carrier that's made for people who want to carry their bike securely without making any contact to the frame. So if you have a carbon fiber frame or a unconventional style bike, this allows you to secure it just the same as your average bicycle. One real cool feature with this carrier is the fact that you have a tilt. You're just gonna push your lever down and lean your carrier over. And as you can see, it gives you a great amount of clearance where you're not gonna really run the risk of any interference with your pedal or handlebars, giving you full access to the back of your vehicle. more

The NV 2.0 is a great bike carrier for a person that wants to take their bike on the road and also would prefer that there was no contact made to the frame to secure it to the carrier. So this is gonna work well for people to have unconventional frames or step through bikes as well as carbon fiber. So you don't have that downward force going on it. You're just gonna have a single hook on your front wheel that you're gonna ratchet down into position and your rear wheel is held in position by a strap. We're looking at the NV 2.0 in the gunmetal gray finish. more

Swagman E-Spec Electric Bike Rack Review - 2022 Kia Sorento- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Swagman E-SPEC bike carrier on our 2022 Kia Sorento. The E-SPEC is a great e-bike carrier, and it's gonna give you a really good capacity. It's rated up to 80 pounds per bike, so that's gonna cover a lot of the bikes that are out there on the market right now. The style of the carrier is a platform style carrier, so that's gonna give you two trays or cradles at the bottom where your feet are secured and a hook that actually makes contact with your frame. So, that is a sturdy way to secure your bike. However, if you have a carbon fiber frame, unconventional frame like a step through, it's gonna require either an adapter or I would just suggest if you have a carbon fiber bike, going with something maybe like a wheel mount. more

Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack Review - 2022 Kia Sorento- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE on our 2022 Kia Sorento. Picking a bike carrier for your vehicle, it kind of ties in on how you plan on using it and how you would like it to secure to your bike. For example, the one that we're looking at here is a frame-mount bike carrier, meaning that it's gonna make contact here at your frame and it's also secured in the cradles for the front and rear tire. What's different about this one is the fact that it does have included anti-rattle on the hitch. It's also adjustable to go up to 60 inches for your wheel base and can support your e-bikes up to 80 pounds. We're gonna remove our pin and put the Sport Rider in the tilt position (metal clacking) by pulling the pin on the side, and that's gonna allow us to have access to our cargo area and we're clearing it completely. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2024 Kia Niro PHEV- Video

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination four, and we're taking a look at how it fits here on our 2024 Kia Niro. The Destination four is one of my favorite bike racks because it is so affordable, but still offers amazing features that even pricier racks don't sometimes offer. This has a lot of versatility for types of bikes, but my favorite part about it is how lightweight and compact it is, even with the ability to carry around four bikes. Now, the downside to this rack is that this does not tilt down, which is a bummer because the Niro's hatch door is so short that most bike racks that tilt away give you so much hatch access, and you can get into your cargo area, but at this price point, that's just gonna be something you're gonna have to give up for the ability to carry on a lot of bikes. So what types of bikes can you carry Well, this does have a maximum weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike, which is most lighter mountain bike and road bikes. This does have a angle to the cradles, which mean your different wheel bases are fine. more

You have a weight capacity of 70 pounds per bike plus you have a ramp included with this rack, which makes it extra helpful to load and unload those heavier bikes. Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2024 Kia Niro PHEV- Video

Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the Kuat Transfer V2 3-Bike Platform Rack, we're seeing how it fits here on our 2024 Kia Niro. The Kuat Transfer is really popular, because of its unique goalpost design. This is gonna be Kuat's entry-level bike rack that gives you that stability of a platform rack, but also not as pricey as, let's say their Kuat Sherpa or their Kuat NV. Something that's usually a downside for a Transfer, but not in the case of our Niro, is that usually doesn't tilt down far enough to get hatch access. But because the Niro's hatch is rather on the small size for the door and because of how this is shaped, we actually get plenty of clearance, well, not plenty, but decent clearance to lower down our bike rack and then open up our hatch. more
